I trust that you all enjoyed the President's Lunch at the Filton Golf Club: a nice meal in pleasant surroundings.

A group of us went to a Whist Drive at Bob and Sherry's home and as usual we all had an enjoyable evening with a
very nice supper. We now look forward to our next fund raising event. We will be entertained by the 'Dart Valley
Stompers' at Mangotsfield School on March 31st. We need to sell more tickets so please do your best.

I would like to thank those who attended the Annual General Meeting where Janet Clark was voted in as our next
President and I wish her and her team every success.

!Wanted !!
|
It seems that due to our publicity in the “Observer” we are gradually getting more customers to our monthly coffee
mornings. My advert does mention that we have CDs, DVDs and videos for sale, as well as books but we only had a few
at the last coffee morning earlier this month. Could you please see if you have any discs which you have grown tired of
and let me have them at some time. Even the freebie CDs which sometimes come with the weekend newspapers could
help raise a bit more for our funds.

Many thanks to those members who have supported these Saturday mornings by helping
|
to set up and serve. A special thank you to our ladies who bake delicious cakes to sell. It would be nice to see more
Y's Men turning up to help with setting up the tables and chairs - it's not hard work and as there are spells when
there is more staff than customers, it's a very enjoyable social get-together. Please have a think about it!

Camps International
|
We have given £200 to Adam Thurston, a student at John Cabot Academy, towards the cost of his 4 week trip to
Sabah, Malaysia, with Camps International. This organisation has been running trips to Africa & Asia for eight years
and its programmes include Community Work, working and living with the local inhabitants, helping with social projects
in the villages, such as building community facilities and helping in the schools. They also carry out Conservation Work,
working hand in hand with the local populace on such things as jungle restoration, where years of deforestation have
taken place. Over 600,000 trees have been planted by volunteers in the past eight years! You can get a much fuller
picture as to how Camps International operates from their website, http://www.campsinternational.com. The BoG
thinks it a good idea and hope you agree!
